President’s Corner

Darren M. DigiacintoWelcome to the website for the Eastern District of Washington Bankruptcy Bar Association.  I am honored to serve as your president for the 2018-2019 year.  Having recently returned from our annual CLE and Retreat at Sun Mountain Resort in Winthrop, Washington, I can tell you that this membership and our Board remain actively engaged in supporting the success of all of our practitioners and support teams.  The collegial nature of this Bar heralds back to a time when professionals spoke to one another instead of relying on technology and, far too often, the bravery of being out of range.  I welcome you to learn more about our Bar and appreciate your interest in our website.

If you are visiting this page as one of our members, I thank you for everything you do to make the practice of bankruptcy law in Eastern Washington so fulfilling.  If you are visiting this page as a guest and want to learn more about our Bar, please feel free to reach out to me or to our Board Members and we will be happy to fill you in as to what we are all about.

My personal goals this year include building hype for our Fall CLE, which is a rewarding and inexpensive way to both network and obtain CLE credits.  This year, we will be hosting the event in the Tri-Cities.  Details will be posted as soon as they are finalized.  I also want to get everyone excited about attending our CLE and Retreat at Sun Mountain next June.  Our 2019 event is being moved back a few weeks from our traditional dates and will be held on June 28th and 29th.  Mark your calendars now.  To those practitioners who may not have been able to attend for the past few years and to those who have never had the opportunity, I offer a special invitation to give it a shot.  We are already planning a fantastic celebration to honor one of our retiring Bankruptcy Judges.  I look forward to celebrating with all of you.

I will end these thoughts with a sincere thank you to David Kazemba, our current past-president, for all of his efforts at making our Bar a success over the last year.  David has been a relentless advocate for the development of this website and for the production of our Bar newsletter, Notes.  Notes is a members-only publication that features articles, statistics, and information that is worthwhile for any bankruptcy practitioner in the Eastern District of Washington or anywhere, really.

As always, please feel free to share your thoughts and ideas with us and I look forward to seeing each of you at our Fall CLE and again at Sun Mountain.

Best,

Darren
